Simonnes sketch challenge--done

Simonne had a great sketch for her weekly challenge this month, and I spent Sunday afternoon, getting messy with paper.Used Scalloped CS,Basic Grey Mellow range,We R Memory Keepers paper,Green tara and Prima flowers,Heidi Swapp and K & Company alpha stickers,Shabby Chic journal card, Unknown brads and gold Kindy Glintz.

Weather has been hot and humid, with our biggest loudest thunderstorm happening late this afternoon.Quite scary for awhle there, with the lightning hitting really close for awhile.

Have my doctors appointment tomorrow, and I am really hoping for relief from this pain I am getting.It is the same foot I broke a bone in late last year.Only thing is, it isn't on the side where I broke it that is hurting, it is on top of my foot.It is swollen and tight, as well as very sore to touch.So fingers crossed I can get some answers and help tomorrow.

yay I scrapped a LO

With William being sick with an ear infection, it has given me some time to sit down at my scrap table and scrap.I found this photo of myself holding William just after he was born back in April 1999.I can't believe my baby is going to be 10 years old this year.Where have those years gone.Still as gorgeous as ever, and always making me smile.So because he wasn't feeling well, I thought I would make a start on his baby photos.

But the best thing is I have scrapped, after about 3 weeks.Ever since finishing up my DT term at Scrap-pile, I have not had any motivation at all.Leah, I think you were right in that , for all those months, you know you HAVE to scrap, but when you finish...you know you can scrap whenever.Anyhow, I am really happy to have gotten the paper and tools out the last couple of days.

I used the MM Paperie /LYB Loveletters Paper ranges, as well as RWPC chippie owl,HS and Green Tara flowers,Prima bling flourishes, Stickles glitter glue in diamond and black diamond as well as a butterfly charm hanging off a Q&Co heart brad.

On the situation up here in the Far North, the sunshine was out for a lot longer today, and things are starting to dry out a little .Hopefully the supermarket shelves will be full soon, as Mum told me there is not one bag of flour or sugar to be found anywhere on the Tablelands.Praying that the water goes down really quickly around Ingham so that the trucks can get through.I have to do my shopping this weekend.So crossing fingers, toes arms etc.

Just saw the news about Ingham, and people are finally about to go back into their homes to clean up.Roads have been lifted and folded over into paddocks of Sugar cane,furniture ruined,the stench is terrible along with the very real threat of Dengue Fever, which broke out up here in early January.Luckily we haven't had a case up here where we live yet.But between Cairns and Townsville , there are over 300 cases.So with Ingham being under water for so long...I don't like their chances.

Anyways, that is enough of all that.Lets hope all that water stays away for awhile, or even better, heads down south.

A shocking week in Australia

I cannot believe what a terrible week it has been in Australia weather wise.

We have the floods and huge rainfall in Far North QLD , and then the EXTREME heat and now fires in Victoria and NSW.There has been so many deaths in small towns in country Victoria.Some sick person lit these fires , and now there are all these unnessesary deaths. 65 people have died so far, and they are saying there is many more.

Well things are going to be interesting up here in the next couple of weeks.The flooding in Ingham isn't moving, no trucks/ trains can't get through with food, supplies etc to Cairns and surrounds.Our supermarket has no fruit and veges left, cheese, canned foods etc. They are saying it could be weeks till the road/rail south is open again.Depending on how long the water takes to subside, and then the damage to the roads and rail.Holy moly......and the wet season has really only started.We ahve till the end of April.Another 2 and half months of sloppy , squelchy mud.
Might have to go out and invest in some gumboots me thinks.

Rain, Rain and more Rain

Well, It looks like us Far North Qld'ers are cut off from the south, and we all don't know for how long.The roads are flooded north and south of Townsville, Ingham is an ocean( will show photos in a minute), and roads also cut off at Cardwell and Tully.

And by the rain we are still getting as I am typing this...it could be further north in Innisfail and Cairns as well.

Supermarkets are selling out of food, as people rush in to buy essentials, because we have been told that there may not be any trucks delivering for about a week.Bread is becoming scarce, as bakeries have no ingredients to bake it.It will all depend on what happens with the Low( which was Cyclone Ellie), which is just hovering over the top of us.They are saying it could turn into another Cyclone by the weekend.But I tell you, this rain is steady and doesn't look like it is going anywhere.

The photos I am going to show you are the town called INGHAM.Mum and I drove through only 3 and half weeks ago, to go to my Uncles funeral.We stopped there both days in the MAIN ST, to have lunch.It is now a river of water, and they are calling it an inland ocean.I really feel for the people in this town.

Here is the Main Road going through Ingham, that either goes North to Cairns, or South to Townsville..Amazing isn't it!!!!

And here is a house which luckily is a high set one, but it wouldn't take much more rain to have it lapping the second floor. Inghams usual rainfall for the month of January/February is around 360mm, they have already had 1,380 mm.And there is a lot more coming.

I just want to let you all know, we are doing OK up here, other than might need some flippers so that we can get to school and work...LOL. I can't remember a year where it has been this wet...probably when I was a child.

Having some fun with my new Big shot

I bought a new Big Shot late last year, and only just got it out and had a play over the weekend.It was so easy to use, and I even used my new Nestibilities on it.I love them and seem to be swaying towards making cards at the moment.Have a heap more shapes cut out ready to place onto cards, so I am really looking forward to the weekend coming up.I am thinking of doing what Helen does and make up a heap of cards and sell them at school.

I know a few of you may like to see where I scrap, so here it is....my scrapping space.It is in the front room, so I have plenty of light during the day.

In other news, we have just had a very wet and exciting weekend , with Cyclone Ellie visiting us.We got a lot of wind, and rain last night.Flooding everywhere on the coast south of Cairns.And it looks like the cyclone hasn't finished yet.They are expecting it to reform again out at sea ,east of Cairns over the next couple of days and come in again.As well, there is another LOW way out to sea, building, building...so looks like we could be seeing a lot more wet weather.

Work has been great, very busy and on the floor running last week, but the little preppie kids I am with a lot, are a real bunch of sweethearts.One particular little girl called Sahara....she is a darling child.I am not on a timetable yet, as I am fulltime in this class for another 3 weeks.Should know what my timetable will be soon.

I am hoping to fly down to Brissie at some time in the first half of this year, and visit all my gorgeous friends and have a scrapping weekendCan't wait.
